Five days of stimulating scholarship, interesting people and the unexpected endearing character of Fredericton have made this a very enlightening and inspiring experience for me. I am feeling very happy for friends of mine who have had good success with being published as well as finding work. I am also feeling optimistic that things are looking up and my huge gamble of moving my family to Toronto to pursue even more education was a good play.
I am freshly inspired to write a new play and am also reinforced to hear I am not the only playwright to feel trepidation about showing unfinished work. The new play may or may not be titled, “Quality Assurance.”
I am inspired to try again to have “Excess Unwanted Growth” and maybe even “Hang-Gliding Over the Abyss” published. Optimistic.
I am feeling more confident in my academic writing than I have been in last few years and am ready to push for journal publication. This comes out of both the positive experience in San Antonio at the PCA/ACA conference (Popular Culture Association and American Culture Association) and the positive response I received from my McKenzie Towne paper on Saturday.
I am also inspired to pursue a stronger online presence (starting here!!!) by Michelle MacArthur’s paper on blog culture and audience’s “reviewing” shows on blogs.
…I am sitting in the library cafe (the only place on campus that serves Americanos!) surrounded by well-dressed people discussing Aristotle, artifacts and reproduction. Life is good.
